Diamond Point Armoire

Armoires such as this are often called “diamond points” because of the shape of the carved panels. This rustic example, with its robust framing and deeply carved panels, has a strong and compelling presence. It has all the hallmarks of a 1700s piece: forged hardware including baluster hinges, double raised side panels and integral mouldings. It was passed down in the Desjardins family and was brought from the province of Quebec to the Francophone community of Astorville, Ontario, in the 1890s.
