Burl Bowl

The form of this bowl is exceptional in the elegant simplicity of its swept-up ends and cut-out handles. The burled grain of the maple increases the structural strength of such bowls and their resistance to splitting or cracking. This bowl was passed down through a family in Prince Edward County, Ontario, and the wear in the interior speaks to how frequently it must have been used since the early 1800s.
