Open Dish Dresser With Drawers

The form of this cupboard can be traced back to the open cupboards used in the country homes of England and Scotland during the late 1700s and early 1800s. It may have been intended to fit between two walls because the sides are unpainted and the cornice trim does not extend along the sides. Its large size is visually lightened by the lower panels, the moulded trim and plate rails, and the scalloped frieze across the top. Although well worn, some of the original reddish graining remains in the top section.
