The Life of Louis Riel

Plan Your Visit

This play introduces the Métis leader who brought Manitoba into Confederation in 1870. Louis Riel remains one of the most debated figures in the history of current-day Manitoba. He is renowned in the history of Canada for his political achievements in the Red River Colony. Join us as we present the man behind the resilience. Created in Winnipeg by the Manitoba Metis Federation, The Life of Louis Riel captures the humanity of one of the Fathers of Confederation by sharing his story — that of a young boy growing up in a history of nationalism to become the celebrated leader of the Métis Nation and all Manitobans.

In English only with French surtitles.

This event is presented by the Métis National Council and the Manitoba Metis Federation in partnership with the Canadian Museum of History and with the participation of the Government of Canada.
