Cancelled – Halloween Party (18+): Night of the Neanderthals

Plan Your Visit

This event has been cancelled

Did Neanderthals celebrate Halloween? Well . . . no. But that doesn’t mean you can’t! Come dressed in your best prehistoric-themed costume to party with magician Eric Leclerc, entertainer Brad the Balloon Guy, psychics Sue Snyder and Dominique Senécal, and a human statue (will you be able to spot it?).

Need a break from the party? Wander through the blockbuster exhibition Neanderthal between 8 and 9:30 p.m. before recharging with some poutine and a drink from the cash bar — not to mention snapping some selfies with a giant woolly mammoth made of balloons. Your ticket includes all entertainment and a poutine voucher.

Halloween Fashion Tips
Don’t be a prehistoric fashion victim! Follow these style tips for Pleistocene panache.

• Are you a troglodyte trendsetter? We don’t really know how Neanderthal people dressed, so feel free to develop your own look.
• Don’t be a dinosaur. Be respectful by avoiding crude stereotypes, and be mindful of cultural appropriation.
• Think outside the cave! Look to the Neanderthal era for inspiration, and dress like a woolly mammoth, a sabretooth tiger, or even a boulder.
• Loincloths are so last-epoch. Avoid outfits that leave too little to the imagination.

For security reasons, no masks or weapons (whether props or functional) will be allowed at this event.

Guidelines detailed in the Visitor Code of Conduct will apply. The Canadian Museum of History reserves the right to refuse entry to any participant whose costume does not comply with these requirements, and may conduct coat and bag checks.
