Recalling one of the most significant refugee experiences in Canadian history, this 2016 documentary explores the harrowing experiences of Vietnamese men, women and children forced to flee their homeland following the 1975 takeover of South Vietnam by the Communist North. They describe terrifying incidents at sea and in refugee camps in Southeast Asia, and talk about their new lives in Canada. The film celebrates both their resilience and their creative integration into Canadian life. Filmmakers Thi Be Nguyen (Executive Producer) and Marie-Hélène Panisset (Director/Producer) will take part in a question-and answer-session following the screening.
