Discover what it was like to explore Canada’s Arctic through hands-on activities highlighting the exhibition Death in the Ice – The Mystery of the Franklin Expedition.

Try on reproductions of what the men of the 1845 Franklin Expedition were wearing when they disappeared, and compare their apparel to traditional Inuit clothing. Participate in an archaeological dig in a simulation tank to find hidden artifacts from Erebus, and learn about the challenges of underwater archaeology. Explore the Parks Canada Interpretation Cart, where you can touch a 3D replica of Erebus and try on underwater gloves. Archaeology buffs, Franklin enthusiasts and families with children ages 8 and up won’t want to miss this chance to participate in a variety of special activities.
