A new series of inspiring talks and performances featuring some of Canada’s most fascinating personalities.

Join us for a special screening of Great Bear Rainforest at the Museum’s CINÉ+ theatre, followed by a conversation with award-winning photographer and explorer Michelle Valberg. Michelle has been telling stories with her camera for more than 30 years. Her numerous travels to Canada’s remote rainforests of British Columbia have led to up-close and personal encounters with Kermode (Spirit) bears, grizzly bears and many other species in the animal kingdom.

Michelle is a Nikon Ambassador, Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society, Canadian Geographic’s first Photographer-in-Residence, and an International Fellow of the Explorers Club in New York City. Her images of bears have also recently been featured on Canada Post stamps.

Producer and host of Regional Contact, Joel Haslam, will moderate a discussion with Michelle about behind the scenes action, stories and what she has learned about Canada’s extraordinary Spirit Bears. Joining the discussion will be the Museum’s Bianca Gendreau, Manager of Contemporary Canada, Research Division.

In English with simultaneous French interpretation.
