Celebrate and promote diversity at the Museum with an extraordinary artifact.

During the second week of Winterlude, Pride takes centre stage at the Museum, spotlighting the evolution of LGBTQ2S+ rights and recognition in Canada. Join Jeremy Dias, founder of the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity, for an upbeat and engaging conversation around one of the star artifacts in the Canadian History Hall: the Gay Sweater. Designed to challenge derogatory language, the sweater is made from “100% gay human hair” donated by individuals from the LGBTQ2S+ community. Find out how the sweater was created, feel swatches of sample hair from the project, and discuss the impact and legacy of the artifact. Express support for LGBTQ2S rights by making your own Pride button.
