- Additional Information Dress made of black silk taffeta and black cut velvet. The long peplumed bodice is fitted with three darts on each side of the centre front, buttoned opening; the two foremost darts are boned. Back is fitted and cut in six pieces and is boned at the side seam. The two centre pieces extend into a square tail, concealed by pleat 'rosette' with pleated tails. The peplum is pleated horizontally. There's a watch pocket on the left front. The stand-up velvet collar has stitched-down pleating below. Dress has two-piece shaped sleeves with a wide band of velvet above each pleated wrist frill. Sleeves are set-in with cording; lined with brown cotton twill. Same twill is used for the lining on which the skirt is built. Apron front with shirring up centre and pleated to a narrow waistband. The puffed back is pleated to waistband and shirred at sides. The band of velvet around the bottom is hitched up at intervals below centre back opening. Lower part of skirt has wide band of velvet across front and wide pleated frill around bottom. There's a pair of tapes stitched to lining at back at hip-length.
