- Additional Information English-style dress made of cotton tabby with graded stripes in two shades of yellow printed on, and narrow orange woven stripes; lined with printed blue and white cotton tabby. Selvedge-to- selvedge is 76.0 cm. Dress has a short bodice with open fronts. Drawstrings at waist from side seams, tie centre front forming deep 'V' neckline. Back cut in three pieces, tabs at back for belt, and lined with cotton tabby. Sleeves are full at shoulders and taper to narrow wrists. Skirt cut with short drop front from selvedge-to-selvedge length gathered to narrow tape at waist with long tie at each end. Narrow gored panel at each side; back of two selvedge-to-selvedge lengths (one tapering slightly) and closely gathered to bodice; three lines of wadding around hem; wadded tuck and plain tuck above; two pocket slits. Wadded hems were worn in the second half of the 1820s; drop fronts worn throughout the decade.
