- Caption Small Chest
- Additional Information Peter Hofer was the carpenter of the Hutterite Rosebud Colony near Beiseker, Alberta. He made this small chest for Annie Tschetter, who used it as a sewing chest at the Riverview Colony in Saskatchewan. Constructed with nails, the chest has a hinged lid and decorative woodwork covering the corners. The whole chest is highly varnished, with the moulding around the lid and base and the five legs stained dark. The initials "A.T." on the front are surrounded by flowers and foliage in green and red. Inside, the chest is painted yellow and scraped. On the left is a small compartment with lid. Excerpt from exhibition text: Just for Nice: German-Canadian Folk Art, May 1993 to September 1995.
