- Additional Information For George Cockayne, a block of wood with a face carved on it was just "something to hang my hat on." A second face seemed to make sense, considering all the blank space on the back and how difficult it was to find a good piece of wood to carve. Around his farm, "nothing is wasted." The male face is the portrait of a neighbour. When the neighbour's wife rejected Mr. Cockayne's offer of the carving, he carved a woman's face on the other side to show "what he thinks of women." Referring to the tongue he says, "A lot of women will do that behind your back, lots of ‘em."
