- Additional Information Since the establishment of A. Stanley and Company in 1850, the name Stanley became associated with woodworking planes that were prized as "the standard of the industry". Manufactured in tool plants with the aid of power machines, the Stanley plane helped bring to an end the era of hand-made woodworking tools.
