Additional Information
Pair of Grease Lamps
Earthenware grease lamps are rare in Canada. It is probable that these were made in the Niagara Region where they were found. The finely splattered dark and light brown glaze is seen on other Niagara earthenware. Grease is placed in the circular bowl or font and absorbed into a wick, which is held in place by a small tube. Both bowls are canted forward to keep the wick in the grease.
