Additional Information
Moustache Cup
The interest in this moustache cup centres upon its double-ended structure and the colourful brown, orange and yellow mottled glaze. On each end is a cup with a semicircular pottery bridge across the rim, which allows the liquid to pass underneath and prevents the user's moustache from becoming wet. The bridge is positioned at each end in a manner that accommodates a right-handed drinker. Moustache cups were popular during the latter part of the 1800s and were usually made of porcelain. It is very rare to find an earthenware example, particularly one that is double-ended.
