Additional Information
Cup and Saucer
William Eby operated a pottery in Conestogo, Waterloo County, between 1857 and 1905, where he produced a full range of earthenware products. The first industrial dig or archaeological excavation in Ontario took place at the site of the pottery and provided a wealth of information regarding Eby's production. Numerous pottery fragments bearing the cherry motif that Eby sometimes used were found at the site. This cup and saucer have this same motif repeated several times, thereby confirming Eby as the maker. In addition, this set was acquired from an Eby descendant.
