- Additional Information A commemorative cotton kerchief from Victoria's Jubilee, printed in red and black on white (now yellowed) so that the kerchief ground is red. A design of white and black is as follows: Centre - Female monarch's crown surmounted with "1837 1887"; beneath is a scroll with 'VICTORIA'S JUBILEE'; surrounding central design is a sixteen section 'rosette', each section is printed with the name of a country, colony or protectorate of the British Empire and is attached to an ensign on a staff; encircled by a narrow, fastened belt with 'ALL HAIL EMPRESS QUEEN OF OCEANA' at top and 'POPULATION FOUR HUNDRED MILLIONS' at the bottom; belt surmounted by a Bible with a passion flower on top; at bottom a scroll, which winds over the belt in one place with 'QUEEN OF OUR ISLAND HOME WE HAIL THEE WITH JOY TO CELEBRATE THY JUBILEE'. In lower right corner is a banner with 'ENGLAND' that includes three small red leopards passant guardant and a small Maltese cross near its upper left corner; banner is surrounded by roses and foliage. At the lower left corner is a banner with 'SCOTLAND' that includes the red lion of Scotland and a small St. Andrew's cross at its upper left corner; Scottish banner is surrounded by thistles and foliage. The upper right corner has a banner with 'WALES', featuring the red Welsh griffin and a small Latin cross in its upper left hand corner; the Welsh banner is surrounded by acorns and oak leaves. The left corner has a banner with 'IRELAND' and a red Irish harp, with no cross; banner is surrounded by shamrocks. The kerchief's imagery is all enclosed within a black and white narrow fancy border banded by a 4.0 cm red area.
