Bodice has a high neck with a stand up collar composed of velvet tabs. The back is cut in three sections on each side of the velvet panel; the bottom edge is hip length at its sides with a right-angled drop to the long front and back sections. Fancy fringe is stitched to the sides between the back and front sections. Bodice's long, two-piece sleeves are set into armhole with cording; stitched-on velvet bands at wrists are finished with three buttons; there are pleated wrist frills and lace frills inside wrists. Small velvet patch watch pocket on left front. Full skirt cut with three gored pieces (front and sides) and two straight panels at back; lined with cotton tabby. Bodice is unlined around the hem, which is bound with black velvet beneath the pleated frill. There is a pocket at proper right inside the back seam. The waist is gathered and pleated irregularly; bodice has the remains of a black tape waistband. There are long, white tape ties at the centre back opening; twill tape is inside the waistband.
