After making a few trips to explore the area and trade, they managed to convince the
British to found a trading company, the Hudson's Bay Company, to exploit the rich supply
of furs found north of Hudson Bay. A few years later, British merchants had established
several trading posts at the mouth of the major rivers and increased trade with the Indian
nations living in the interior, including the Sioux, the Assiniboine and the Cree.
