The Wright Residence and Garden
28 Taché Boulevard

This nineteenth-century residence, surrounded by the most beautiful historic residential garden in the City of Gatineau, was located on the farm of the founder of Hull Township, Philemon Wright, and his wife, Abigail. After the founder's house burned down in 1849, his grandson Philemon built this neo-Gothic house around 1855. His sister, Nancy Louisa, wife of John Scott, the first mayor of Bytown, raised her children here. Their heirs lived here until 1963. The Quebec Ministry of Cultural Affairs declared the house and its garden a historic site on October 19, 1979.
