Protection for Work and Sport

Today, we take it for granted that workers in heavy industry or dangerous jobs wear standard safety helmets. In fact, protective headgear was confined to a few industries until recently, and became compulsory in those industries only around the 1950s. Likewise, headwear for hockey and football players, motorcyclists and racing car drivers was standardized only recently.
