Coronet, 1902 Worn by Baroness Macdonald, wife of Sir John A. Macdonald, to the coronation of Edward VII. The coronet, or small crown, is worn at coronations and on other royal occasions by British nobility. Rank is indicated by the number of "pearls" or silver balls and black spots or "doublets" of ermine tails on the fur. The coronets of peeresses are smaller than those of peers, fitting into tiaras and held in place with gilt pins. CMC D-17671 |
