Worn by Vincent Massey, Governor-General of Canada, 1952 1959. The glengarry is a Scottish bonnet dating from the Victorian period. In Canada, it is often part of the uniform of curling clubs, pipe bands and other Scottish groups. It has been copied extensively as a military head-dress.

Glengarry-style cap, Iroquois, late 1800s
By the mid-1800s, the Iroquois living near Niagara Falls were making beaded and embroidered goods for sale to tourists. They used the glengarry, worn by British military in the area, as the basis for one of the most popular beaded gifts.
