Carrying Bags

Prior to the development of the golf bag, caddies carried the early sets of clubs under their arm. Golf bags were first used to carry clubs in Scotland in the 1880s, but were not used in Canada until after 1885. The first bags made in Canada were advertised in 1896. Various folding golf club stands and club holders appeared in the early 1900s and, in Britain, bags with attached wheels were introduced.
