To Her Excellency The Members of the Senate and House of Commons, whose names are mentioned below, are desirous of presenting to Your Excellency, on the eve of your departure, some memorial of their esteem and affection, in recognition of the signal devotion of Your Excellency to the promotion of all good works in Canada, and your invariable kindness to the Members of the Dominion Parliament. The interesting Historical Dinner Service, the work of the Woman's Art Association of Canada, seems to be most suitable for such presentation, both because it is purely Canadian, and because it is the result of the effort of Canadian women, in whom Your Excellency has always shown the deepest interest. We trust that Your Excellency will accept this gift, as a remembrance of our grateful appreciation of the unvarying kindness we have received at your hands. With deep regret at the ending of the official and personal relations that have existed during the last five years, between Government House and ourselves, we earnestly wish long and happy days for you and yours.
