1934
Born on January 23 in East Angus in the Eastern Townships, Quebec.

1942–1950
Studies at the Séminaire de Sherbrooke and at the Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf.

1954–1959
Becomes an actor and then a radio announcer
in Trois-Rivières and Sherbrooke before moving
on to television in Montreal.

1960
Joins the Rassemblement pour l’indépendance
nationale (RIN).

1964
Is elected president of the RIN.

1968
Dissolves the RIN and urges its members
to join the Parti Québécois led by René Lévesque.

1973
Leaves the Parti Québécois.

1976
Becomes a professor of journalism at the
Université du Québec à Montreal.

1982–2003
Returns to radio and writes for a variety of
publications.

2003
Dies on June 16 in Montreal.
