Connie and Chris Bennedsen:
A Life Together
Valentine's Day card from Chris to Connie Bennedsen, ca 1962. (CMC, Christian Bennedsen Collection, P27-1.2.001,

Although Chris entrenched himself in life with his new Italian family, he maintained strong ties with the Danish family he had left behind. Connie was warmly accepted into this new family.

Thank you very much for the parcel, which is come today. We are all very, very glad for the beautiful gifts. I am very glad for all the beautiful duster coat, the nice blouse and the lovely pyjamas. I like very much all. Mom is also very glad for her night gown and the dish (it was not broken) and Dad was very glad for his shirt and Grandma was, too very, very glad for her sweater, but they will write to Chris themselves, and then he will tell you what they are writing. I have been home from school this day, because we have overslept ourselves and I came too late to the bus. I have then fetch the parcel in Arnum, where the post office is, this afternoon. The weather here is very cold and there is a lot of snow. Mom is very glad that your family likes Chris so much. |
