Michael's business did well. Carmela looked after her daughters and took care of the many family members and townsfolk from Italy who came to stay with them after they moved to Markham Street.

Like other Monteleonese, the Colangelo family attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on St. Patrick and Dundas Streets. The church had opened in 1908 and was quickly adopted by the Monteleonese as their place of worship.
