This hand-painted bentwood box was brought from Germany to Pennsylvania ca.1860. It was later brought to Canada. The inscription on the lid reads: "Der Klapperstorch hat vergange Nacht, einen kleinen Bruder Euch gerbracht". (The stork brought you a little brother last night).

A Danish woman made this beadwork picture in the 1920s, before she emigrated from Denmark to western Canada. Her picture is a copy of a relief sculpture by Thorvaldsen. Made of plastic beads glued onto a canvas backing, the picture is framed with artificial shells made of plastic.
