4,200 Hours, Two Million Pieces...

Mario Campagnaro, who was a carpenter in Italy, had to retrain as a metalworker when he came to Canada. He never lost his love of woodworking, however, and transformed it into an intensely creative pastime. It took him 4,200 hours over a period of seven years to make this model of the Milan Cathedral. There are nearly two million pieces of wood, cut, shaped and, in some cases, burned to obtain specific shades.
