The Art of Basket Making

Baskets Made by Salvatore Bisignano Canada 1987, 1995, 1996 Willow, cane Lent by Salvatore Bisignano Salvatore Bisignano learned the art of basket making from his father, Giuseppe Bisignano, who came to Canada late in life, in 1961. His father decided to make baskets the way they were made in Italy and sell them in Thunder Bay. He quickly became known as the "basket man". Since his retirement, Salvatore has carried on the tradition.
