This flat-bottomed boat is considered the most colourful and interesting watercraft in the Philippines. Eight metres in length, it has an elevated poop ornamented with floral designs, leaves and branches. Its two masts are rigged with mat-like sails.

Living quarters at the stern turn this cargo vessel into a houseboat. In the early 1900s, thousands of people reportedly lived in cascos along the Pasig River in Manila.
