New Ways of Cooking
The use of ceramic containers during the Woodland Period transformed cooking methods. Cooking pots could be placed directly on an open fire, whereas before, boiling stones had to be heated in the fire then placed in a bark, wood or skin container. Gone were the days when bits of charcoal, ash or even sand got mixed in with food. |
