About the film
Discover the hostile yet beautiful environment of the remote and mysterious continent at the bottom of the world. Antarctica is the coldest, driest and windiest place on Earth, pounded by the roughest seas, yet also abounds in strange and wonderful creatures.
Through never-before-seen footage, dive below sea ice nearly 2 metres thick to explore the strange underwater world of the Antarctic seabed. Swim alongside playful seals, soar above mountain peaks and vast penguin colonies, and witness the largest congregation of fin and humpback whales ever filmed.
Although Antarctica is hundreds of kilometres from the nearest town or city, what happens there affects us all. This international territory and its surrounding seas regulate ocean currents and sea levels worldwide, and its wildlife-filled waters absorb colossal amounts of carbon — making scientific and political cooperation key to its protection for generations to come.
