John Rombough was born in a Chipewan Dene community from Sioux Lookout in Northwestern Ontario. He was adopted by a couple from Prince Edward Island. As a young adult he reconnected with his biological father, in the Northwest Territories. He now lives there and celebrates the Dene teachings through his art.
Talking about this artwork, John Rombough: “On an early spring morning, the bear in his elements is walking alongside grandfather rocks. As the Ancestors watch over the land, the Ravens welcome the bear from a long winter’s nap.”
