Collected in Skidgate in 1902, this pole depicts Shaman, Raven and Beaver. In Haida mythology, Raven was often considered the first Shaman: 24.7 cm high. The argillite reproduction pieces in high density resin are moulded from casts of original argillite Haida carvings from the Canadian Museum of History’s collections. Argillite is a soft slate found only on Haida Gwaii (the Queen Charlotte Islands); it was first quarried in the 1820’s on Slatechuck Mountain.
