Sharifah Marsden

Sharifah Marsden is an Anishinaabe artist from the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation. She was first interested in painting, but she also loved to create floral and geometric beadwork designs on traditional powwow regalia. One of her mother’s earliest pieces of advice was to continue creating images that relate to her culture. In this way, Sharifah would maintain her connection to her Anishinaabe heritage, and her identity would endure throughout her formal training.
