Anishinabe (Ojibwa-style) Saddle

Canadian Museum of History, V-E-148, IMG2008-0583-0143-Dm

When riding, Plains men used a type of saddle that was light and comfortable. A highly decorated saddle such as this one would have formed part of a horse’s regalia on special occasions. This Anishinabe (Ojibwa-style) saddle was made in Manitoba in the late 19th or early 20th century.
