Post office boxes

Canadian Museum of History, 1991.37.1, IMG2009-0063-0101-Dm

This impressive set of post office boxes was made in 1875. The inscription, which reads “ici on émet des mandats de poste” (“We sell postal orders here”), suggests that this was used in Quebec. The boxes have brass doors decorated with beaver designs.
