Ancient Inuit Pendant

Canadian Museum of History, SgFm-4:143, S2000-1196

Archaeologists excavated this ivory pendant from an Inuit site on the Knud Peninsula, on the east coast of Ellesmere Island. The three female figures have topknot hairstyles like those traditionally worn in Greenland. The incised lines represent clothing. The pendant is probably around 600 years old.
