Holiday Greetings!

Best Wishes 2016

What a successful and wonderful year we’ve had. Thanks to your support, the Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum reached Canadians from every region of the country. Our visitors, our donors, our volunteers and our sponsors — everyone’s help mattered.

Combined, we are the country’s most visited museums. In 2015, the year that marks our 10th anniversary on LeBreton Flats, the Canadian War Museum welcomed over half a million visitors and the Canadian Museum of History was pleased to welcome over 1.1 million people.

Our outstanding exhibitions draw people in, and they provide us with a conduit to reach out. We connect with Canadians in many different ways — through constant dialogue, artifact loans, social media exchanges and travelling exhibitions. Some of the highlights from the past year include the presentation of The Greeks – Agamemnon to Alexander the Great in Montréal, Gatineau and Chicago, and the opening of Canada’s Titanic – The Empress of Ireland in Halifax. Supply Line Discovery Boxes went to classrooms across the country, and the historic Penhold curtain is on display once again in Penhold, Alberta. The list of this year’s accomplishments is long and impressive.

Next year promises even more — more exhibitions, more acquisitions, more exciting conversations and moving experiences. And 2017 is on the horizon. As the country celebrates 150 years of nationhood, the stunning new Canadian History Hall will help redefine the Canadian story. The countdown has begun.

You have helped us remain relevant in a changing world. With your support, we can be both timely and timeless. I wish you a happy holiday season, filled with excitement for what our shared future will bring.
