In 1984, William Hazzard (1933–2000) received the Saidye Bronfman Award for excellence in the fine crafts in recognition of works such as Goshawk with Chipmunk. To create his highly detailed studies of birds, Hazzard spent much of his time carefully studying his subjects in their natural habitat.
