Archaeological Sites Officer

Ms. Johanis has worked at the Museum since 1979 as Assistant Curator and Curator of Site Information for the Museum of Civilization’s Archaeological Sites Office. She is currently responsible for administering the Borden System—an archaeological numbering system used to track archaeological sites and artifacts—and for co-managing the official site inventories for Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Prince Edward Island. She manages the Museum’s Sites Database, develops bilingual classifications and standards for archaeological data, disseminates information, and develops mapping applications and Web resources. Ms. Johanis obtained her BA (Sociology) at the University of Ottawa.
