Winterlude at the Canadian Museum of Civilization

Gatineau, Quebec, February 2, 2011 — The Canadian Museum of Civilization is proud to be an official partner of the National Capital Commission for this 33rd edition of Winterlude and to have been chosen, once more, as the official site for the launch of the festivities taking place from February 5 to 21, 2011.

“It is a great pleasure for us to partner with the NCC again this year for Winterlude. The Museum has many exciting activities planned for visitors of all ages throughout the three weekends. We look forward to welcoming Winterlude visitors to our site,” said Dr. Victor Rabinovitch, President and CEO of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation.

To celebrate the start of this year’s activities, the Museum will remain open on February 4 until 11 p.m., and the Children’s Museum will remain open until 9 p.m. Museum admission will be free starting at 5 p.m. and visitors will have the chance to attend a free presentation of Extreme, a thrilling documentary on the IMAX Dome. Free tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Museum Box office, starting at 5 p.m.

In addition to the fabulous programs offered outside, great surprises are waiting for you inside the Museum, such as the contemporary circus show presented by Les 7 doigts de la main, on February 5 and 6.

To celebrate Family Day on Monday, February 21, the Museum of Civilization and the War Museum will both offer free admission to children under age 18 who are accompanied by an adult (Limited to one child per adult).

From opening weekend celebrations and great family activities to special performances, the Museum is the place to be throughout the month of February!
