Gatineau, Quebec, August 13, 2013 — The Canadian Museum of Civilization invites you to dance the night away at an electronic powwow on Thursday, August 29. Join us as A Tribe Called Red brings its turntables and giant screens to the Grand Hall for a spectacular show certain to please lovers of dance, electronic music and multimedia projections.

Originally from Ottawa, the group’s members — DJ Shub, DJ NDN and Bear Witness — have created a unique sound, blending recordings of historical powwows with hypnotic electronic beats. Within a few short years, they’ve become one of the faces of an urban Aboriginal youth renaissance — championing their heritage and speaking out on Aboriginal issues, while staying on the cutting edge of popular music, fashion and art.

Last spring, A Tribe Called Red released its second full-length album, Nation II Nation, on Tribal Spirit Music. The album was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize as one of the year’s ten best Canadian albums. Their first album, released in 2012, was named on of the year’s top ten albums by the Washington Post.

Within a couple of years they’ve become the face of an urban Native youth renaissance, championing their heritage and speaking out on aboriginal issues, while being on top of popular music, fashion and art.
