Training and Enhancing the Aboriginal Presence in Museums
Thursday, September 16
Noon to 1 p.m. (English)
Join Jameson Brant, the Museum’s Coordinator of the Aboriginal Training Program in Museum Practices, for a look at how many institutions have grappled, over the past 30 years, with the lack of Aboriginal peoples involved in the interpretation of their culture and history. In 2010, Brant set out to inventory and visit programs offering museum training to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples. Her presentation will provide an overview of her findings and demonstrate how the Museum of Civilization is measuring up.
