This country-style evening out on the range features performances from the Wild West, tasty ‘n’ spicy snacks, bull ridin’, hoedown dancin’, western flicks and some Texas hold‘em. HI HO, SILVER!!  $25; Members: $20.

Curator’s Notebook: Lunchtime Lecture Series
Training and Enhancing the Aboriginal Presence in Museums

Join Jameson Brant, the Museum’s Coordinator of the Aboriginal Training Program in Museum Practices, for a look at how many institutions have grappled, over the past 30 years, with the lack of Aboriginal peoples involved in the interpretation of their culture and history. In 2010, Brant set out to inventory and visit programs offering museum training to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples. Her presentation will provide an overview of her findings and demonstrate how the Museum of Civilization is measuring up.

Come and meet Zuhra Bahman-Ludin, wife of Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Canada, and learn more about some of her projects and goals while posted in Canada. She will also introduce Afghan art dealer and charity organizer Rameen Javid, who will give an illustrated presentation on current trends in contemporary Afghan art.
