Spring 2010 Edition of Lunchtime Lecture Series
“The Unknown History of Blacks in Quebec"
Thursday, May 6

12 p.m.
Cascades Salon

Since the earliest days of New France, Blacks have played an important and little-recognized role in the history and culture of La Belle Province. Whether it was by their labour during the era of slavery, their activities supporting fugitives along the Underground Railroad during the mid-19th century, or their struggles against discrimination during the 20th century, Black Quebecers have left a visible and intriguing record. Presentations will last 30 minutes and will be followed by a question-and-answer period. Presenter: Greg Robinson, Professor of History, Université du Québec à Montréal.
