New Trustee Appointed to Board of Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation

Gatineau, Quebec, June 27, 2012 — The Chairman of the Board of the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation, LGen (ret’d) Bill Leach, is pleased to welcome Claude Thibault of Mount Royal, Quebec, to the Board of Trustees. Mr. Thibault is Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Nuera Group of Companies, a private investment company with operations in the manufacturing and distribution sectors in Canada and the United States. 

Mr. Thibault’s order-in-council appointment was announced by the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, the Honourable James Moore. The Corporation’s 11-member Board oversees the operation of theCanadianMuseumof Civilization and theCanadianWarMuseum,Canada’s national museums of human and military history. 

“Claude Thibault brings to the Board a wealth of experience in corporate management and administration, with his solid credentials in accounting and finance, and also his experience in compliance and governance issues,” said LGen (ret’d) Leach. “He will be a valuable addition to the Board.” 

Mr. Thibault is a Chartered Accountant with a Corporate Finance qualification, and holds an MBA from McGill University. He has worked as a financial professional since 1986, gaining significant experience in the fields of investment banking and corporate finance and serving as CFO at several public and private companies.  He has also served on several boards of directors of companies and not-for-profit organizations.

The Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation operates the Canadian Museum of Civilization, the Canadian War Museum and the Virtual Museum of New France. As part of their mandate, the Museums function as centres for research and public information on the social, military and human history of the country. Their principal role is to preserve and promote the heritage of Canada for present and future generations, thereby contributing to the enhancement of Canadian identity.
