International Women’s Week: Come meet two fascinating women at the Canadian Museum of Civilization

Gatineau, Quebec, February 27, 2006 – The Canadian Museum of Civilization invites you to two Coffee & Conversation sessions offered in conjunction with International Women’s Week. On March 8 and 12, come meet two women who will share their experiences in the health care sector.

Cathy Crowe is a renowned Toronto street nurse who works closely with the homeless and their plight. She is a frequent commentator and writer on issues related to homelessness, and an avid activist who has fostered numerous coalitions and advocacy initiatives. She is one of the nine featured nurses in the exhibition A Caring Profession: Centuries of Nursing in Canada.

Betty-Anne Daviss is a registered midwife, social activist, researcher and preceptor working in Ottawa, who is also an international speaker. Additionally, she is Chair of the International Bureau of the Canadian Association of Midwives and has recently spent time training traditional Afghan midwives with Médecins du Monde.
